Glimpses of the venue

Set among sea, mountains and old forests, this historic retreat offers a rare luxury: openness in every direction. Nature surrounds the building; history runs through it. Here past and present meet not as opposites but as a continuum.

Surrounded by centuries-old temples, castles, hidden passages, ancient settlement traces, olive groves and historic production sites, this is more than a place to stay — it is living cultural heritage. Nestled into the mountainside, the citadel forms a striking setting for stays, private gatherings, select events, conferences, workshops and international guests.

Within its walls history whispers; stone and space hold memory while time slows and moments gain depth. Bringing together elegance, privacy and cultivated restraint, Nurmahal lays claim to being a destination unlike any other in Bodrum.

Since 2003, the Nizami Ganjavi Cultural Institute, based in Berlin, the capital of Germany, has been dedicated to fostering culture, literature, and scholarship through numerous international initiatives. Over the years, the institution has built a distinguished legacy by promoting dialogue and understanding among diverse civilizations. In 2016, the institute evolved into the Caucasus Research Center, expanding its academic and cultural mission and bringing to life a wide range of international projects. Through these endeavors, it has contributed significantly to the study, preservation, and promotion of cultural heritage. Emerging from this rich tradition, Nurmahal represents a new vision where literature, culture, heritage, and the arts converge. Rooted in the historic Yalıkavak Castle in Bodrum, and working in close collaboration with its centers in Berlin and Baku, Nurmahal aspires to serve as a bridge between East and West, fostering intercultural dialogue and safeguarding the shared legacy of humanity. Set among the timeless stones of Yalıkavak, Nurmahal is more than a cultural institution; it is a living sanctuary of memory and creativity. Inspired by the wisdom of the past and guided by the aspirations of the future, it seeks to transform heritage into a source of knowledge, inspiration, and understanding. Through international collaborations, scholarly research, artistic initiatives, and cultural programs, Nurmahal is committed to preserving the voices of the past while cultivating a vibrant cultural legacy for generations to come.
